"This
is Your Life, Not a Dress Rehearsal"
"Rule
of Success that few people is practicing, that anyone can put into practice"
(This
is a direct translation of the Japanese title )
is
a manual to help you achieve your goals, and to lead fulfilling
and meaningful life. Inside, there are 74 ideas for the success
of life that anyone can start immediately, such as "praise
yourself", "choose to change now" and "describe
your goal", all written in an easy-to-understand manner.
And, they organized in the way that a reader can start reading
from any chapter that interests him/her.
The definition
of success described here is not just "getting rich"
or "getting promotion." The writer defines key success
factors in 6 key areas in life:
1) Relationship
2) Career
3) Health
4)
Spirituality
5)
Finances
6) Education.
In the
chapter on "Health", for example, there are specific
examples and how-to information to lead healthier life. And,
since all information is based on the writer’s personal
struggle to "become successful", as he puts it "climbing
up from the rock bottom", it helps to make it sound all
more convincing.
Another
reason why I found this book useful is that each "advice"
is very "American", unlike many Japanese abstract
arguments you get in other books. I fully enjoyed this book,
partly because it reminded me of my personal experience living
in the United States for 8 years.
