Archives For wealthiest countries in the world

I was picking up our Persian cat Frosty from the Pet Groomer the other day when I witnessed a scene that made my heart ache.

Our groomer is co-located in a Veterinary office building and, while I was waiting for Frosty to come out, all trimmed and pretty, I could not help but overhear a man explaining to the Vet how he was unable to pay the bill for his cat. All the while, his small daughter stood by taking all this in.

The man explained how he was not debating the charges and how he really appreciated the good work the Doctor did and how he had been coming there for years and planned to continue but that, right now, he had no money and was unable to pay the bill. He promised to come back and settle as soon as he could.

Fortunately for the man, his daughter and the family cat, the Vet is a kind, understanding person.

Seeing this scene unfold touched me deeply and left me feeling both sad for the man’s troubles and angry that a loving father would have to endure this embarrassing experience in front of his small child.

Maybe it stirred up memories of my own childhood, one in which I experienced similar situations where we were not able to pay what was owed. Or maybe it was from when, as an adult, I had to face similar embarrassing moments.

Whatever the reason, I know it bothers me so much because scenes like this are taking place all over America right now and it’s wrong! They should not occur, especially in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, but they do.

Honest, hardworking Americans are being defeated, demoralized, and depressed by their daily struggle to stay ahead of rising costs. And they are happening with more and more frequency each day.

This must change and the collective “we” must change it. The government is not going to fix the problem. They never have before. Waiting for Washington to do something about the economic mess we’re in will do little more than prolong the pain. Yes, there are things our elected officials can do but they’re not doing them.

The buck (pun intentional) stops here. It’s up to you and I to fix it.

We have the power, each and every one of us, including the man with the cat, to change our financial condition but in order to do so we mush change the conversation we’ve been having about it.

We – you, me and especially the media – must begin talking about possibility and opportunity.Since it is an absolute law of the Universe that, as Emerson said, “A man is what he thinks about all day long,” we must put our attention on abundance and well being.

The media, who up until now has been having a field day reporting about how bad things are, and as a result contributing to the problem, must change their message and start reporting about what is working. They need to start covering the stories of success and prosperity. There are just as many, if not more, of them than the other.

We must wake up to the opportunities that surround us. Then, and only then, will we begin to see the abundance that has always been there.

Money, abundance and well being all come from our Creator as does everything else in our world and there is not, nor has there ever been a lack of anything. If you doubt that, just look around at your world. We are surrounded by God’s abundance.
